Abstract

Franco's is a cooperative cooking game where two players, the chef and the waiter, must prepare as many hamburgers as possible before time runs out. The two players need to work together, stay coordinated, and try not to get too frustrated with each other.

The game is inspired by time-based cooperative video games like Overcooked and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, bringing this type of cooperative experience into the physical world.

Using Arduino components and the constraint of a small 15x15X15cm cm space, Franco's immerses players in Franco's diner, making them feel the pressure of a super busy shift

The game consists of:

Before the game starts, players position themselves facing each other. The chef has the box with ingredients and utensils in front of them, while the waiter has the three tables and the recipe book.

The game begins when the waiter "opens" the diner by turning on the sign, which starts the 3-minute timer.

The waiter selects one of the three tables to serve, takes the box, and places it on the table. At this point, a small display shows the order, indicating which recipe to look for in the cookbook. The waiter then passes the box to the chef and searches for the recipe in the cookbook. The chef follows the waiter’s instructions, performing the actions specified in the recipe. These actions include:
